We're delighted to welcome Andriy Nekrasov back to the garden for his second year as Artist in Residence at Fullers Mill.

Andriy's exhibition will run from 27 July - 8 September during normal garden opening times - Wednesdays 2-5pm, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 11am-5pm.

Join us for an artist masterclass with Andriy on Saturday 27 July, 2-4pm.

Andriy is an Honoured Artist of Ukraine and a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, living in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

Andriy spent his childhood in the Kyiv region of Ukraine. Inspired to paint by the amazing views of the blue Dnieper river and surrounding golden meadows, Andriy studied in the workshops of Ukrainian artists Nartsis Kocherezhko and Vasyl Korchynskyi. Working in oil and using a palette knife in large strokes, his painting style combines a playful and vibrant sense of colour on large canvasses. He paints still life, sea horizons, city and natural landscapes and his work includes many Crimean and Carpathian landscapes, scenes of rapid mountain rivers, coastal views of Odessa and the ancient Dnieper as well as studies of the architecture of western Ukrainian and European cities. A veteran of many international exhibitions, Andriy’s work features in many private collections across Europe.

In September 2022, Andriy and his family arrived in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme. By serendipitous good fortune, Andriy’s UK host is a long-term volunteer at Fullers Mill, the award-winning garden owned and maintained by Perennial. A place of peace and tranquillity, the waterside garden sits on the banks of the River Lark and Culford Stream with a plantsman’s collection of plants and woodland, regularly enjoyed by visitors.

Inspired by the unique atmosphere, Andriy felt and captured the wonderful sense of place at Fullers Mill in a first canvas and was offered and accepted the role of Artist in Residence. Many more canvasses have followed which will be on show throughout the exhibition and available to buy. A percentage of the proceeds from the painting sales will go to the Hospital of the National Guards of the Ukraine and Perennial.

All artwork on display in the exhibition is available to buy, along with prints in the gift shop. Please ask staff for details.
